More than language learning
Learning Spanish in Andalusia means being surrounded by the language beyond the classroom. At Live The South, we don’t offer a fixed activities programme or tourist-style experiences. Instead, we help you access real local life — the kind most visitors never reach.
During your stay in Écija, you’ll have the opportunity to take part in activities that are designed for local people and delivered by local providers, entirely in Spanish. This is where language becomes real, spontaneous and meaningful.
Activities Programme
There is a wide variety of activities in and around Écija that typical tourists rarely experience — often due to language barriers or lack of local knowledge. We help you discover what’s available and guide you towards activities that match your interests, availability and level of confidence in Spanish.
All activities are optional, not included in the course price, and depend on availability, season and demand.
Sightseeing
Écija is rich in history, culture and archaeological heritage. You can explore its palaces, churches and museums independently or join guided visits when available. Nearby places such as Osuna, Córdoba and Seville are also within easy reach for day trips.
Whenever possible, we help you access these experiences in Spanish, allowing you to practise listening, interacting and navigating real cultural contexts.
Outdoors
The surrounding countryside offers many opportunities to experience Andalusia beyond the classroom. Depending on the season and availability, activities may include hiking, kayaking, horse riding or nature-based experiences organised by local providers.
These activities are aimed at local participants and take place naturally in Spanish — offering a valuable opportunity to practise the language in relaxed, everyday situations.
Workshops
Sometimes, and depending on group size and interest, we can organise workshops especially for our students. These might include flamenco, art or Spanish cooking workshops.
Unlike regular activities, these workshops are created specifically for Live The South students and require a minimum number of participants to take place.
Many activities depend on the season and local events. You can read more about the best time to visit Andalusia in our practical considerations.
